Notable JUCO Players at Bowling Green

Image
JUCO Players at BGSU With 4 JUCO players signed to the current transfer class and another via UTSA, I wanted to take a look back to some recent JUCO players who shined at BGSU. If my memory serves correct BG does not have a history of signing many JUCO kids as Ohio is a fertile recruiting ground. It seems more schools with less high school talent around them rely on junior colleges such as UTEP and New Mexico State. If you look at the NMSU Aggies who beat us in the bowl game, they're roster is over half of JUCO players and they clearly have success. While BG should not be that reliant on JUCOs as a school in New Mexico or El Paso, in the new era of college football it would make sense to bring in more JUCOs.  With so many recruited players out of high school leaving via the transfer portal, more and more teams can utilize transfers, whether from the portal or junior colleges to get possibly overlooked players from a lower level of football to come fill spots that you may have had t

MAC 2023 Win Totals

Image
2023 MAC Win Totals Last season, I shoved that low ball 3.5 number down Vegas' throat as that was my super max bet of the year. Obviously BG crushed that over by reaching 6 wins. This year Vegas put out a great number for BG, let's dive into all the MAC win totals.  I also want to add that my win range is just a 3 game window around my predicted record. So if I am projecting Bowling Green to go 6-6 like I did last year, my range for the Falcons would be 5-7 wins. I cannot stand when writers or analyst predict 3-8 wins for a team. Congrats, you covered 80% of the possible outcomes. Stick with your projection, plus one win and minus one win for the range.  Akron  Win Total: 3.5  My Win Range: 3-5 My Bet: Stay Away (photo: Pittsburgh Post Gazette)     The Zips got the number BG had last season. I do not see a scenario where the Zips go bowling this year but it is the MAC. BG went from 2-6 in MAC play to 5-3 in just one year. Akron is bringing in transfers and Coach Moorehead is

Looking Back At Recent NFL Falcons

Image
With the NFL 2023 Draft over and done with and Karl Brooks off to Green Bay, I wanted to look back at some recent NFL players who once wore the Orange and Brown. I will be taking a look at anyone who played in the NFL since 2010. (Note that for years in the NFL, I am counting seasons they appeared in a game, not just the practice squad or IR) WR Scott Miller (photo: DraftKings) Diyral Briggs LB 2009-2010 Undrafted LB Diyral Briggs (photo: Pioneer Press) Briggs played for BGSU from 2004-2008, finishing his career with over 200 tackles and 26 sacks which is 4th in BGSU history. Besides the astounding numbers from Briggs, he was on teams that did a lot of winning. BG won the GMAC bowl in 04 during Briggs' redshirt year, MAC East co-champions, made a bowl in 07, and upset Pitt in 2008. All of his years were spent under HC Gregg Brandon.  (photo: Packers.com) In the NFL, Diyral went undrafted and was signed by the 49ers, Broncos, and Packers from 2009-2010. Briggs appeared in 5 games fo
