Vibes?

The vibes should be fine across BG nation. I know I have this battle with people on twitter every week. Should we be 4-3, maybe even 5-2? For sure, in an ideal world. At the end of the day we are Bowling Green. We do not out recruit and out spend our competition. Just because we went 7-5 last year does not mean we should necessarily expect to go 8-4 this year. The fact that we can struggle and still beat Kent State and Akron are really good signs. I will never apologize for a win in this league. The reality is ALL of BGSU's goals are still in front of them, but it all hangs in the balance tomorrow.

Can we beat Toledo?

Last year's game still burns. It was all BG until Bazelak got hurt and Toledo stormed back to win it late. This Battle of I75 has truly been a battle the majority of the time under Coach Loeffler. Loeffler is 2-3 in his 5 games against the Rockets while BG was 0-9 in the 9 years before he showed up. The Falcons have looked like two different squads. If the BG that almost beat Texas AM and Penn State show up, it is a Falcon victory. If the team that played NIU, ODU and even Akron show up, it is a loss for sure. I am so unbelievably hyped for this game. Everything is on the line. If BG wins, the Falcons are in the MAC Championship race, sitting pole position. If BG loses, the team falls to 3-5 and now a bowl game seriously is in jeopardy. Also the win total for BG at open was 6.5 and if this Falcon squad wants another winning season, a 7-5 record is really all but done for with a loss in the Glass Bowl.

Bowl Game?

BG has a tough road ahead. Toledo, Miami OH, and Western Michigan all could win the title this year and BG really could use a win against 2 of them to lock into a bowl game. The other two games are Ball State and Central Michigan and while they are having down years, as I say 10000 times a day, this league has too much parity to assume any wins. With a loss tomorrow, BG would almost certainly have to beat both CMU and Ball to get to 6 wins. As always, a 6-6 season would be a nice season. Bowl games should never be taken for granted, especially if we can get the first bowl win since the 2014 season.

Go Fannin Go

Harold Fannin has been a monster this year. 60 catches, 857 yards, and 6 total scores. He will easily hit the very prestigious 1,000 yard marker this year and similar to Scotty Miller and Karl Brooks, will bring a national spotlight to BGSU when he is drafted later in 2025. BG has not had a super long list of NFL draftees and especially in a year that could possibly see us miss a bowl game if the next two weeks go poorly, he will forever bring a lot of positive memories and a lasting impact to the 2024 Bowling Green football season.

Ay Ziggy! Go Falcons!
