Transfer Portal 2025

                          Transfer Portal 2025

The transfer portal in my opinion is fun, good for players, and actually helps a school like Bowling Green.

The portal also has so many opportunities for different players. You have studs from the G5 move up to the SEC, P5 backups dropping down to start at G5 schools. You have FCS starters jumping up to FBS, also FCS backups who would rather be a backup at a FBS school. Many casual fans do not realize how valuable depth guys are and scout team players truly make big differences in practice. Even G5 guys would rather be a backup at an SEC school. So in my mind, the portal is a plus value.

This list may not be 100% accurate but is updated to the best of my knowledge. I am going to give my opinions on each player, not meaning any disrespect but just an honest assessment of each player's impact in my opinion. Best of luck to all the guys leaving, and a big welcome to all the new Falcons joining!

Incoming

Jordan Dunbar DB Kansas State (Big12) 1 year left

Dunbar will be a day 1 starter especially with the departure of CJ Brown and Tracy Revels. After staring 2 years at Rice, he was a backup at K State for one year.

Allen Middleton WR Southern Illinois (FCS) 3 years left

Middleton had a productive year at SIU and comes to BG which has thrived with FCS WRs in the MAC. We will have to see if the new coaching staff can be as successful with FCS guys as Coach Loeffler was.

Collins Acheampong DL UCLA (Big10) 4 years left

Collins was a FOUR star prospect per 247 (who is right the most on guys) so this is an amazing get for the Falcons. After just a redshirt year, Collins comes to BG to hopefully be an impact player. Not often BG gets a blue chip prospect so this may be the most exciting get of the year.

Marcus Moore DL Akron (MAC) 2 years left

Always a fun wrinkle to get another MAC guy to leave his team for us. Moore had over 30 tackles last year and is an experienced guy to bring into the DL room.

Gideon Lampron LB Dayton (FCS) 2 years left

Lampron was an FCS All-American and is probably my favorite pickup of the portal. This guy is fast, strong, and had over 90 tackles for Dayton.

Jay'Quan Bostic DB Toledo (MAC) 4 years left

Originally a WVU commit who redshirted a year at Toledo. He probably saw us bash Toledo's brains in on their own field this past year and wants to come to the better school.

Brenna Ridley WR Hampton (FCS) 3 years left

Ridley put up good numbers for FCS Hampton and comes to a BG team in DEPSERATE need of wide receivers who can just play at a FCS level which they did not have last year.

Andrew Kilfoyl OL USF (AAC) 1 year left

Any time an offensive lineman with just one year left transfers anywhere, they likely start day 1. Hopefully Kilfoyl can be an impact guard for us or replace Wollschleager at tackle.

Jyrin Johnson TE Texas Southern (FCS) 1 year left

BG needs to replace Fannin and Malcolm Johnson so we need all the pass catchers we can get.

Sefa Saipaia LB Ferris State (D2) 1 year left

I love bringing up D2 players. They are usually hungry, hard workers, and can bring some perspective to the locker room.

Justin Lamson QB Stanford (ACC) 2 years left

Athletic, high 3 star guy. I am VERY excited for this QB. I have preached ever since the portal became a thing that BG should always just get a guy from the P4 because there will always be guys we could not get out of high school who want to start somewhere (see Matt McDonald, Connor Bazelak). Lamson can run and I think in G5 football a running QB gives a huge advantage.

Mayes Doggan DB Northwest Missouri State (D2) 1 year left

Very interested to see how a D2 guy turns out in the MAC, love this move. Hungry, humble, perfect blue collar BG player.

Chris McMillion RB Northeast Mississippi State (JUCO) 2 years left

We lose Terion and JP so we gotta bring in new running backs to compete for the job and I am a huge fan of JUCO players, especially because the portal causes them to be overlooked.

Arlis Boardingham TE Florida (SEC) 2 years left

Wow! A former blue-chip prospect who is coming to the MAC from the SEC. Hard not to get too hyped too soon here as anytime you get a player from the best conference in football it is a huge deal.

Jojo Johnson DB Indiana (Big10) 1 year left

The Big10 is clearly in the big 2 of college football so getting a player with experience from this level is huge for the Falcon secondary losing CJ Brown. Johnson got hurt last year and likely was not going to start in his final season but should be a day 1 starter in BG.

Drew Pyne QB Missouri (SEC) 2 years left

Drew Pyne came out of high school with every offer under the sun. He picked Notre Dame but his career did not pan out there, at Arizona State, or at Mizzou even though he picked up a big win over Oklahoma. Like I say every offseason we will always find a former stud who wants to be a true blue starter even at a lower level. I am so hyped and truly think we will win a MAC Championship with Drew Pyne in Bowling Green.

Alexis Sanchez OL Tennessee State (FCS) 2 years left

Sanchez started at Northern Arizona and transferred to TSU after the 2024 season and then followed Eddie George to Ohio.

Jalen McClendon DB Tennessee State (FCS) 2 years left

McClendon has had a solid career at TSU and totaled 50 solo tackles last year during TSU's playoff run. He is a team captain so clearly he will benefit the culture Eddie George wants to establish here and is my dark horse pick for the best transfer portal pickup.

Key'on Washington DB West Virginia (Big12) 4 years left

Washington got an 87 rating from 247 and comes to BG via the Big12 after shirting a year at WVU.

Eriq George DL Tennessee State (FCS) 2 years left

Eriq is the son of Eddie George and was an All-Conference player who had over 50 tackles last year as TSU went to the playoffs. This move is kind of a no brainer and I am hyped to see Eddie George bring his son with him to Ohio.

Kaderris Roberts RB Tennessee State (FCS) 1 year left

Roberts played 3 seasons at Stetson (FCS) and then was at TSU for the 2024 season where he did not compile any stats.

Mark Cannon DB Illinois State (FCS) 2 years left

Cannon played in every game for the Cards last year where he had over 80 tackles. He has also had 3 interceptions in each of the past two seasons. This guy was a stud at the FCS level so jumping up to the MAC should not lead to much of a drop off in play.

Caden Marshall LB Tennessee State (FCS) 4 years left

Marshall shirted one year for the Tigers and then Eddie George brought him here to be developed.

Reis Stocksdale WR Ohio State (Big10) 1 year left

Stocksdale walked on to Ohio State and in his final year wants to catch some footballs. He has a national championship ring and hopefully can bring some good work ethic and habits to a program that already has a great culture. Stocksdale caught one pass against Michigan State back in 2022.

Austyn Dendy RB Missouri (SEC) 3 years left

Dendy played in 2 games over his 2 years at Mizzou and now joins teammate Drew Pyne here in Ohio.

AJ Odom LB Memphis (AAC) 2 years left

Odom registered one tackle throughout his time at Memphis. The American is a better league than the MAC so the hope is that a backup in the AAC can come in and contribute to the MAC.

Andrew Hines LB Wake Forest (ACC) 4 years left

Hines shirted a year at Wake Forest. He was an 88 overall recruit out of HS and had a lot of Power 4 offers so this is an awesome get. This has the Eddie George name value written all over it for a player this young with this much upside to come to BGSU.

Austin Clay WR Michigan State (Big10) 4 years left

Clay shirted one year and is another great pickup for BG. 4 years to develop and comes from the Big 2 conferences which is always a good sign from the portal. We offered him out of HS and now he is in Ohio.

Hunter Najm QB Washington State (Pac12) 4 years left

Hunter comes from a coaching change himself at Wazzou. It is a long trip to Ohio from CA where Najm is from. He had 0 stars from 247 out of HS so he may just develop into a depth piece but in the MAC who knows.

Leo Kemp FB UCLA (Big10) 3 years left

Kemp played in 21 games over the past two years at UCLA and SDSU. I love that Coach George is bringing in a fullback so we can continue to play blue collar football.

Outgoing

Terion Stewart RB Virginia Tech (ACC) 1 year left

Terion will be missed. Impossible to tackle, if this guy was 2 inches taller he would be in the SEC. I am super happy for him. Terion leaves BGSU with over 2,000 yards and over 20 touchdowns. Stewart is 7th all time in rush yards and 7th in touch downs.

Joe Sipp Jr LB Kansas (Big12) 1 year left

Tough to lose an All-MAC guy like Joe Sipp but like I will always say, I am happy for any kid going to the P4.

Alan Anaya K N/A 1 year left

Anaya was a solid kicker in 2023 but after losing his job last year he clearly wants to play somewhere.

Jaylen Tillman WR Texas Permian (D2) 1 year left

Tillman came in from a D2 school and will go back to one after getting just one catch (for a nice touchdown) in his 1 full year at BG.

Dierre Kelly DL N/A 1 year left

Kelly has been with BG since 2021 and totaled over 50 tackles in the Orange and Brown.

Ed Rhambo DB Nevada (MWC) 2 years left

Rhambo came in for just one year from the FCS ranks. Rhambo had 22 tackles and a pick for us this year and was solid all season long.

Cam Orth QB Chattanooga (FCS) 1 year left

I loved watching Cam Orth play. He came in from long island and was our reliable backup in 2022 and 2023. Orth had a crazy rushing touchdown in the GTech upset, started a game against Buffalo in the pouring rain and steadied us to a win and scored 3 touchdowns in a win vs Kent State. I thought Orth could be our starter this year but with the portal it would be hard to beat out every guy we could bring in. He will be missed.

Jalen Burton DB (N/A) 1 year left

Burton saw his playing time steadily decline after the 2022 season where he played in most games and had a huge pick in the win against Akron.

Nick Reimer OL URI (FCS) 1 year left

Injuries really ruined what could have been with Reimer this past season. Reimer got hurt early and from my memory I only remember him playing one MAC game against Kent State.

Billie Roberts DL (N/A) 1 year left

Roberts was a staple role player on the defense in 2021, 22, and 23. Then this past season he started two games on the O line.

Chris Edmonds RB (N/A) 3 years left

Edmonds had just 2 carries in his 2 years at BGSU.

Alex Wollschlaeger OL Kentucky (SEC) 1 year left

A true Loeffler guy through and through. Came to BG a mid recruit and developed into an absolute stud of a tackle who has started from us basically every game since 2022. He goes off to Kentucky to play at the highest level of college football, much congrats.

Alijah Williams DL Wofford (FCS) 3 years left

One tackle in his one year at BGSU. Playing time clearly a factor here, cannot knock a guy for going down a level to play.

Davonte Miles DL South Carolina (SEC) 2 years left

Miles was a former Michigan commit who came to BG and racked up 26 tackles for the Falcons and saw playing time in a bunch of MAC wins over the past 2 seasons. Again, stoked we have a Falcon now playing in the SEC.

Marcus Moore DL Purdue (Big10) 2 years left

Moore transferred in from Akron back in the winter and in the first wave of players to leave post Coaching change which I will never fault a player. Especially a guy who has not played a snap in the orange and brown.

CJ Brown DB Sam Houston State (CUSA) 1 year left

Brown was an All-MAC defensive player at NIU and was fantastic this past year for the Falcons. He totaled over 70 tackles and started all 13 games at safety this past year. Loeffler left and CJ decided too as well.

Tracy Revels DB Michigan State (Big10) 3 years left

Tracy started 7 games last year, playing in 12. He was a great freshman and it stinks to see him go but he is going to the Big10 where he can try to shine on a bigger stage. Moves like this makes us feel like a minor league program that feeds the top but that is the reality and we just have to accept it.

Justin Lamson QB Montana State (FCS) 2 years left

Lamson came to BG to be QB1 under the old regime but clearly the visions did not align with the new one so he heads to an FCS power where he will likely be QB1.

Kal El Pascal DB N/A 3 years left

Pascal came in as a true freshman and played in every single game last year. Pascal had his best game against Ball State where he totaled 8 tackles in the win.

Dillon Robinson OL N/A 4 years left

Robinson played in one game against Fordham and clearly is ready to test the waters with a new regime. He was a 247 2 star prospect that had multiple offers and should find another FBS spot. He currently has an offer from Temple and a bunch of FCS teams.

Sefa Saipaia LB Western Michigan (MAC) 1 year left

Saipaia left Ferris State and came to Bowling Green but left for the WMU Broncos. Glad to see he stayed FBS after leaving the lower level of football, it is the best part of the portal.

Rahkeem Smith WR Georgia Tech (ACC) 1 year left

Rahkeem Smith played in all 13 games last year. He transferred up from Delaware State (FCS). Smith scored 3 TDs in the win against Ball State and a rushing score in the huge I-75 win over Toledo. He will be missed and I am hyped he is able to go to the Power 4 to shine.

JT Kitna QB Stephen F Austin (FCS) 4 years left

Kitna is the son of former NFL player Jon Kitna. I have been saying this since 2020, Bowling Green SHOULD NOT start a QB we recruited out of high school maybe ever again. Connor Bazelak was really solid for us and was a former SEC magnet for offers, same goes to Drew Pyne for our team now. There will always be a ton of former Power 4 recruits who will want to start in the MAC after their careers did not turn out the way they wanted it.

Dom Grguric WR N/A 2 years left

Dom transferred up from Valparaiso (FCS) and played in 17 games on special teams over the past 2 years.

Jordan Dunbar DB Missouri State (FCS) 1 year left

I figured Dunbar would come in and start day 1 but clearly with the coaching change he felt like he wanted to go elsewhere and is now at a solid FCS program.

Joe Shimko OL N/A 4 years left

Shimko was a Loeffler guy and was a 3 star 247 prospect so he should have no problem finding another FBS program or a really good FCS one.

Justin Pegues RB N/A 1 year left

Pegues transferred up from Tennessee Tech and played in all 13 games. He had that awesome 100 yard kick return to start the 2024 season. He had 11 carries and 14 catches throughout the year as a solid role player.

Isaac Hill TE N/A 4 years left

Hill was a 3 star prospect who shirted last year.

Rico Steele OL N/A 4 years left

Steele had a few FBS offers despite seeing no stars on 247 and played in one game, redshirting 2024.

Shawn Thigpen WR N/A 3 years left

Thigpen was a 3 star prospect who appeared in one game over the past 2 seasons. He is tall and had a lot of offers out of high school and should be fine.

Elias Owens LB N/A 4 years left

Again, a Loeffler guy who left after the coaching change. Cannot blame anyone for that.

Jonny Sorensen QB N/A 4 years left

Walk on player who shirted last year. Always a gamble for a walk on to leave a MAC school unless he is fine going FCS. Best of luck to him, QB is the hardest position in sports.
