Top 5 NFL Prospects

Image
Going into 2021, I figured I would throw a list of 5 guys who could possibly be NFL prospects for 2022. To be honest, coming out of BG has not been super fortunate for draft picks, getting just one in 7 years (Scott Miller). This list is in no particular order either. BG does not really have many upperclassmen so the list of even potential players is thin. 1. Sam Neverov OL redshirt Junior  Neverov is 6'6 and weighs over 300 pounds so it is safe to say if he sheds a couple of pounds and contiues to improve he could improve his stock.  2. James Carolan LS Senior  Long snappers always have potential to go from random schools, so why not add a 4 year starter to the list. 3. Jerry McBride DB redshirt Senior Jerry is tall, fast, and can get physical on the line. He has potential to get to the next level.  4. Matt Naranjo P redshirt Senior Matt transferred from New Mexico and has been a stud in the Orange and Brown, so who knows maybe someone needs a new punter in ca...

The Boston College 3

Image
Three members of the Boston College Football Team came over to BG when Scot Loeffler accepted the job as head coach. They have not made a lot of impact so far but I decided to look into it anyways. 1. Matt McDonald QB McDonald appeared in 2 games at BC, going 7/8 passing with 2 touchdowns and 118 yards against Holy Cross and UMass. At BG, Matt was denied eligibility in 2019, and started 2020 going just 54/123. He threw 1 touchdown and 6 picks, mostly due to some really poor talent around him. This team was so young, and protection was not great. Yeah Matt needs to be better but his weapons did not give him much. I am really hoping in 2022 he takes this team back to a bowl. 2. Darius Wade QB Darius came to BG and started 2019. At Boston College, Wade threw 5 touchdowns and 5 picks in his career as an Eagle. Darius even started the bowl game BC made in 2017 where they lost a close game to Iowa. At Bowling Green, Wade got the first win of the Loeffler era against Morgan State but was unab...

"What If" BG coaching change 2018

Image
So, the year is 2018. BG has gotten off to another terrible start, and is 1-6 on the year, 0-3 in MAC games. Mike Jinks and the Falcons just lost a sure fire win to the Western Michigan Broncos on homecoming weekend. The Falcons were up 21-7 at the half, and up 28-14 late in the 3rd. I remember the BG sideline was a wasteland of emotions. On the WMU side, their players were jumping up and down with excitment even down 14 points. At that point, I knew BG would lose the game. They sure did and Mike Jinks were fired that week. Jinks made a lot of mistake as a coach, but letting his team get that low on energy is the biggest mistake yet. Honestly, the funniest stat of the Mike Jinks era was going just 2-1 in FCS games, with a win margin of just 8 in the two wins over lackluster FCS schools.  Carl Pelini was then given the role of interim HC and led the Falcons to a record of 2-3 in their final 5 games. BG was able to beat Central Michigan and Akron thanks to solid defense and competent...

New EA Sports Video Game

Image
EA Sports is releasing a new college football video game The team over at EA Sports announced on Twitter in February that they are going to finally make a college football video game again. The last edition came out in 2013, titled NCAA 14 with Denard Robinson from Michigan on the cover.  NCAA 14 was met with acclaim, and has only grown more popular as it was the last game in the franchise. Due to a lawsuit, EA decided not to continue with the game. I personally think NCAA 04 is the best of all time and critics and players alike would agree.  The Madden series has fallen to an unbearable low level of quality due to EA having a monopoly. It is simple, when a company has no competition, they put less work into a product because consumer do not have another option. Madden 21 is the worst rated Madden game in the entire series, both by critics and consumers. The new EA College Football Game could be terrible, but I am excited none the less. Some ways to make the game good would be...

Interview with James Knapke

Image
Today I had the absolute pleasure of speaking with former BGSU Falcon James Knapke. Knapke was a backup QB on the 2013 and 2015 MAC Championship teams and started in 2014 leading BG back to the MAC Championship, and winning a Bowl Game. Knapke goes over some great insights into being on the team, as well as ending with good advice for young recruits. James is a great dude and had some amazing moments in the Orange and Brown. Way Too Early 2021 Schedule Preview

Image
The 2021 season is going to be a lot of fun because of how whacky 2020 was. Hopefully, Scot Loeffler and company can take a step forward this year although it will be an uphill battle. Here is my prediction for the season even though there is a lot more information that can come out such as more transfers, coaching changes, or position battles. Week 1: Tennessee L 13-59 Week 2: South Alabama W 38-24 Week 3: Murray State W 45-17 Week 4: Minnesota L 24-48 Week 5: Kent State L 17-51 Week 6: Akron W 28-24 Week 7: NIU L 21-38 Week 8: Eastern Michigan W 35-31 Week 9: Buffalo L 10-31 Week 10: Toledo L 14-35 Week 11: Miami OH L 24-27 Week 12: Ohio L 19-31 Overall: 4-8 Window: 2-4 wins I think this team will go 4-8 as of now, but put the floor at 2 wins and the ceiling at 4. I feel that is really fair considering Loeffler has yet to get more than 3 wins and make a bowl game. Anything less than 2 wins and he should be on the hot seat because we should start with 1 win against Murray State. Getti...

BGSU Transfer Portal 2021

Image
The transfer portal has changed college football forever. Especially with the NCAA likely doing away with the 1 year of eligibility loss, and the COVID year not counting, a record number of kids are in the portal. The transfer portal allows kids to enter their info and be recruited by all teams, instead of sending info to schools one by one. Once a student enters the portal, they can choose to return to their school but their school can also take them off of scholarship. So far for BG, Diata Burns and LaBronz Davis have come back to the Orange and Brown from the Transfer Portal.  I will put their new destination at the end, also important to note that only Shon Strickland was recruit by Scot Loeffler. The rest of these kids were brought in by a whole other coaching staff. There are many reasons a kid might transfer but the main are Wanting more playing time Moving closer to home Want to win games Coaching staff changes  BG has not been winning much which is a reason to leave. ...
