Harold Fannin's Record Breaking Season

 Harold Fannin's Record Breaking Season

2024 was a great season for the Falcons. It was a historic season for Harold Fannin. Fannin had only one scholarship offer coming out of high school, similar to another BGSU legend in Scotty Miller. Harold came to Bowling Green as a true wild card prospect and instantly Coach Loeffler declared he would play in the NFL someday. A truly remarkable statement now 3 years later is coming true.

In 2022 we saw flashes of Fannin. He caught 19 balls for over 200 yards and had his best game against SEC opponent Mississippi State. Harold's main contribution was 4 rushing scores, one in 4 of the 6 wins that year. In 2023 Fannin took a step forward and caught 44 balls for over 600 yards and 6 scores. Fannin then repaid Coach Loeffler's faith in him by turning down NIL offers from big time schools to transfer.

That loyalty came to fruition this past season. Harold Fannin was BGSU's first consensus All-American, set the NCAA record for receiving yards in a season for a tight end, and is now a lock to be drafted to the NFL. Fannin racked up an unreal 117 catches for over 1,500 yards and 10 scores. Lets be real he was the only guy moving the chains in the air in some of our games. Fannin had EIGHT games with over 100 yards receiving and FIVE games with double digit catches. He was unstoppable and had his best games against Power 4 teams.

Looking towards the NFL this is a big deal for BGSU. Since 1996, Bowling Green has only had 7 players drafted, only 1 who was drafted in the top 4 rounds. With many projections to go in the 3rd round, this pick will do wonders for BGSU publicity as did his record breaking season and All-American accolades. In BGSU lore Fannin also leaves number 2 in most yards and receptions in a single season behind Freddie Barnes' 2009 campaign. I am so happy for Harold as a person and am excited to watch him fulfill a lifelong dream this weekend.
