MAC Week 4 Gambling Corner

Image
Week 2 record: 4-1-1 Year record: 7-4-1 It is Week 4 of MACtion, and I am back to make you all some money! Always bet responsibly please, and call the helpline if you have a problem. I have some great feelings about this week. Last week I crushed it, only missing on the BG game where for the first time ever I went against Bowling Green! Central Michigan vs Eastern Michigan +6.5 I really like CMU in this spot. While EMU plays a lot of close games, I do not think they are as good as they were last year and will lose this one for two or three touchdowns. CMU has the better coach, the better offense, and their defenses are similar so give me CMU all day. Pick: CMU -6.5 Bowling Green vs Ohio -24.5 This game is actually winnable in my opinion and I know I sound crazy. Ohio almost lost to Akron last week so give me the boys in Orange and Brown to not get blown out and cover this big spread. BG played our closest game against a much better Buffalo team so this game could surprise us all. Pick

Week 3 Buffalo vs Bowling Green Recap

Image
Recap Let me just start out by saying, I thought this was our best game of the year. Say what you will about them running all over us for a million yards but this was our closest game of the year. The offense also finally looked decent so despite the loss there are some positives. Defense still got bullied as the bulls only completed 7 passes on the night, so shoutout to our d line for hanging tough.  1st Quarter The beginning of the game was not all that bad. The Bulls marched down the field and scored on a Jaret Paterson touchdown, his first of 4 on the day. At that point hope was already gone until the Falcons marched down the field, but had to settle for a FG by Nate Needham. A 3 and out for our defense got Matt McDonald and the lads back on the field quick. They showed us another glimmer of hope as they went all the way down the field. Then on 4th and short, Loeffler decided to have us kick. I did not agree with this decision at all, as 31 point underdogs you have to play with som

Week 2 record: 3-3 Year record: 3-3 It is Week 3 of MACtion, and I am back to make you all some money! Always bet responsibly please, and call the helpline if you have a problem. I have some great feelings about this week.  Buffalo vs Bowling Green +31.5 Short answer, take Buffalo. Long answer, BG is really really bad, take Buffalo. Bowling Green is a year away from being a year away, so the To The Moon hashtag will have to wait. Buffalo is amazing at running the football, and great at defense. Bowling Green is terrible at stopping the run, and cannot move the football. BG has lost by more than 31 in both games so far, so this game is really answer. I love my Falcons, but finally I have to bet against them.  Pick: Buffalo -31.5 Akron vs Kent State -23.5 This is actually a big time rivalry for these schools, as the battle for the Wagon Wheel is set to take place on ESPN. However, this game will not be exciting. Akron is still winless in their last 20 games, and Kent State just beat down

State of the Program 11.12.2020

So, Scot Loeffler had a post game presser with some serious energy. The Falcons are 0-2 to start, and Loeffler is well aware they look terrible. The Falcons look horrific on defense and the offense is not much better. For the State of the Program, we will be discussing Scot's interview today in which I came away even more pumped for the future.     In this State of the Program, I will break down what is being said, give context, but not everything here is a direct quote. You can watch the full interview on the BG Athletics YouTube page, as well as here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9_peyMMzDc&t=64s        Scot starts off by discussing how he intends to fix this program by doing things the right way. That means recruiting in a solid 4 hour radius, not going after juco transfers, and by fixing the culture around winning. Loeffler admits this team is no where close to where they want to be but the program was in shambles when he took it over so it is not a tweak away fro

Week 2 Kent State vs BGSU Recap

Image
Recap Whoa, I am having flashbacks to 2019 when Kent State beat us 62-20. This year the final score was 62-24 so hey, that is a step in the right direction, right? Some how this game was even uglier than week 1. Matt McDonald had another rough night, as Bowling Green's offense got off to a hot start before stalling into neutral. The defense is the story of the night, as they could not even tackle, let alone get a stop. Kent State did whatever they wanted, whenever they want, however they wanted. Let's dive into the mud. 1st Quarter The beginning of the game was solid. Kent State started by driving down the field for an easy touchdown, but then Bryson Denley was able to return a kick off for 81 yards to the Kent State 12. The offense got a bad penalty that stalled the drive and forced a Nate Needham FG. Kent State then drove down the field but luckily the defense held them to a FG. This is when the offense had their first good drive of the season, as Matt McDonald and the Falc

MAC Week 2 Gambling Corner

Week 2 of MACtion is right around the corner, and I am ready to give out my gambling picks for week 2. I will give a more detailed preview of the BG game tonight. Akron vs Ohio -23.5 This is the first game of the week, and in my opinion, the hardest game to pick. Ohio is coming off of a tough loss to CMU 30-27. The Bobcats played well on offense, Curtis Rourke filling in nicely for his older brother but the offense stalled later in the game when they were needed the most. Freshman Zack Gibson did he best under center for Akron but the Zips fell 58-13 to a much more talented Broncos team. This game is so hard to pick because Akron is really bad but 23.5 is such a high number. Ohio looked solid in their opener but they were off balance all night. Both the offense and defense were perfectly average and so taking a team that has to win by 24 or more is a risk I am not willing to take. I think this Zips team needs a win eventually. They will not get it on Tuesday but I believe they could k

Week 1 MAC Recap

Week 1 of MACtion is in the books, and there was a lot to dissect. I wanted to take this time to just briefly go over the other games in the MAC so if you only watched the BG game you can get a decent feel for the conference this week.  Eastern Michigan vs Kent State EMU took on Kent State in one of the two early games. Kent State jumped out to an early 13 point lead as Dustin Crum was showing off his skills with a throwing touchdown as well as one on the ground. The first quarter wasn't past the excitement as the Eastern Michigan Eagles rallied of 9 points with a Chad Ryland field goal and a passing touchdown from Preston Hutchinson to Thomas Odukoya. Kent State went back in the drivers seat with an early 2nd quarter touchdown by RB Xavier Williams put the Golden Flashes up 20-9. In the 2nd half the Eagles actually looked like the better team but still fell short as the Flashes held on for a 27-23 win. The main takeaways for the game was that Kent both ran and threw for over 200

Week 1 2020 at Toledo

Image
Recap Well, it's Thursday Morning and reality has set in. Bowling Green did not upset Toledo for a 2nd straight year. Instead, BG got waxed 38-3. Last year Bowling Green was able to upset Toledo as 27 point underdogs. They did so on the back of some amazing defense, lead by juco transfer Brandon Perce, held the 4-1 Rockets to just 7 points. On the other side of the ball, the 1-4 Falcons put up 20 led by walk-on Grant Loy who was making his first career start. Truly one of the most iconic games in BGSU history, followed up by an equally memorable one but for all the wrong reasons.  1st Quarter The game started out as bad as it could for the Falcons as an early punt snap sailed over Matt Naranjo's head. He made a great play by scooping it up into the endzone and getting the ball away but it still started Toledo at the 20-ish yard line. Toledo scored the touchdown but missed the point after to make it 6-0 Rockets. The next drive added to the theory that Bowling Green never pract
