New EA Sports Video Game

EA Sports is releasing a new college football video game

The team over at EA Sports announced on Twitter in February that they are going to finally make a college football video game again. The last edition came out in 2013, titled NCAA 14 with Denard Robinson from Michigan on the cover.

NCAA 14 was met with acclaim, and has only grown more popular as it was the last game in the franchise. Due to a lawsuit, EA decided not to continue with the game. I personally think NCAA 04 is the best of all time and critics and players alike would agree.

The Madden series has fallen to an unbearable low level of quality due to EA having a monopoly. It is simple, when a company has no competition, they put less work into a product because consumer do not have another option. Madden 21 is the worst rated Madden game in the entire series, both by critics and consumers. The new EA College Football Game could be terrible, but I am excited none the less. Some ways to make the game good would be to:

  • Focus on offline play
  • Try to limit microtransactions
  • Use a football dedicated game engine
EA needs to focus on offline play instead of ultimate team. Playing a dynasty mode and building up a team is the most fun way to sink 100 hours into a game. Microtransactions is a way that companies make more money to let people advance faster in the game. These transactions, if gone to hard, make games unfair and makes consumers feel as if they cannot play the game unless they pay additional money. Also, Madden is now being made on the engine Call of Duty uses because the graphics are better, but the gameplay sucks so EA will probably ruin the NCAA series as well.

For Bowling Green, being in video games is a huge marketing tool. Kids all across the country can play as us or against us which adds to the exposure. Bowling Green was one of the first schools confirmed to be in the game and it is clear they value the game as much as they should!
